The appointment of Miss Galvin was only announced in May this year and already Julia is about to leave to represent the Principality of Hutt River in the 2009 WIFE CARRYING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SONKAJÄRVI, FINLAND which will be held over the 3rd and 4th JULY 2009. Miss Galvin will head off from her home on July 1st, proudly carrying with her the Principality flag which will fly during the competition and with luck and Julia's "athletic prowess (to say nothing of the brute strength of Mr. Mauri Zahkna, the Estonian man who will this year be carrying her) will be seen on the podium at the finish. You can see Julia listed as Participant No 27. Julia trains hard and stresses a lot as this competition comes to bear, she longs for that winners prize (winners weight in beer) and claims that when she gets there it will without doubt be the largest payout the world championships has seen thus far! By the way, Miss Galvin is a World Champion "Bog Snorkeller", competes in "Mountain Bike Bog Snorkelling" aside from also being "world renowned" for her exploits in the finer skills involved in the "Wife Carrying Championships".
