Cyclo Sportif - Swan Valley 2015

The Royal Hutt River Silvertails had a small B Distance group entered in the 2015 BWA Swan Valley Cyclo Sportif
as well as a 3 person C distance Development Squad

Report from the finish line!

The Royal Hutt River Silvertails entered 2 squads in the BWA Swan Valley
Cyclo Sportif on Sunday 28th June. The main "A Team" in the B distance of
64km over 4 laps. Silvertails lose count above 4 so were precluded from the
8 lap A distance. A small "Development Squad was also entered in the 32km C
Distance.

The A Team was mainly made up of veterans of the recent European Tour:
Simon Carroll (Captain)
Andrew McMillan
Dave Hutson
Michael Smith
Skip Lissiman
Guy Reid

The Development Squad was a family affair:
Marshall Allen
Grace Allen (18yo veteran of the Kalamunda Cyclo)
James Allen (16yo and first time on a road bike)

The A team reported a blistering pace and firmly believed they were in with
a chance of a division win having only passed other teams the whole way
around. Initial results however - showing average speeds in excess of
140kph - threw the credibility of the organisation into doubt. "Final"
results had the A team finishing well down the list and several extremely
doubtful times above them.

The Development Squad were likewise robbed of the chocolates. Having started
last and passing every other C distance team on the first lap (most sporting
camel backs and flat bar Kmart mountain bikes mind you) they were somehow
dropped off of the results list all together.

At the end of the day, both teams walk away claiming victory - although we
are reminded that "it's not a race".
