Third Quarter Report
July - September 2010:

I am please to supply the usual report from the Legion of Frontiersmen Independent Command Canada for July, August and September 2010.  It gives me great pleasure to to be able to inform you that this is the most extensive volunteer work ever undertaken by this Command.  What a difference the new enthusiastic members have made to our volunteering.

We still continue to "man" the "coffee mornings" in Ridgedale and on 35 occasions the troop once again ran this event.

On 9 occasions we helped run the bingo sessions so essential in raising funds needed to maintain the "Seniors Hall".

Food Bank - 7 times the troop ran the Tisdale Food Bank Distribution Centre. On 9 occasions the troop collected food contributions from stores in Tisdale and delivered the items to the Food Distribution Centre for allocation.

On 8 occasions during this quarter we helped sort items delivered to the Salvation Army Charity Store in the town of Tisdale.  Proceeds raised during this period were for local charities.

On 1 occasion members delivered emergency food hamper to a person in dire need of help.

Medical car - On 10 occasions local residents were transported for medical appointments to and from the city of Saskatoon of the town of Nipawin.

Fire Fighting Duties - On 1 occasion the Chief Commissioner "turned out" and assisted in fighting a farm fire approx. 5 miles from Ridgedale.

Food catering duties carried out 4 times for the Canada Day Celebrations in Nipawin, Ridgedale Pot Luck Suppers and the Wapoiti and District School Reunion.

Help with the grass cutting of public areas in Ridgedale (including the cemetery) during the summer months on 7 occasions.

16 volunteer duties were carried out at the New Market Manor Nursing Home in Tisdale and the Pine View Nursing Home in Nipawin.

Helping Hands - Security checks on private houses by request by owners prior to them going on vacation; their pets fed.  Assisted elderly residents in cutting down old tree branches, etc.,  "house sitting" where required.  All these type of duties carried out on numerous occasions during this quarter.
 

With new members we embrace the future enthusiastically as volunteer providers locally and are ever grateful to the support we receive from the Principality of Hutt River.
